Review:

As far as kids' movies go, Mom's Outta Sight does serve a purpose.

If you're a parent and your kids have done something really bad, a great punishment would be to force them to watch this entire movie. I guarantee you they would never repeat the offense.

This punishment should be saved for the most severe crimes, though...along the lines of Murder 1.

Mom's Outta Sight is a "family movie" that lifts elements from just about every science fiction film made in the last 60 years.

Through some astonishingly bad acting, it tries to tell a story that has something to do with a transporter and some kids who are all for skateboard safety. Needless to say, this film is so bad that I couldn't make it all the way through before I had to stop.

The child actors in this movie have obviously flunked out of the Jake Lloyd Academy, and have been relegated to doing garbage like this.

The DVD is amazingly bland. It contains a full-screen 1.33:1 transfer of the movie (what!? No anamorphic transfer, I'm outraged!), and a Dolby Digital 2.0 sound mix taken straight from the camcorder original.

The video quality looks like something that was made on one of the new iMac's using iDVD. In other words, it's not offensively bad like, say, some of the really cheap Three Stooges DVDs, but it's definitely not taking full advantage of the format.

Even the menus are sub-par, containing a "Special Features" section with nothing that could really be considered a special feature, while not containing any kind of audio options.

If you see this movie for rent at your local video store, don't just pass it by. Pick it up, take it to the front counter and complain that you're offended they would rent crap this bad in their store.
